The initial version of the User - Email Check plugin for Joomla 5 was published on May 25, 2025. It is a user plugin to reduce the number of errors when email addresses are entered into user details, both by new users registering from the frontend or editing their profiles, and also by administrators at the backend.
This plugin validates the format of the email address, making sure that it has no spaces and that the domain part after the @ sign has a dot, which last check the normal Joomla javascript validation does not do. The plugin looks up the MX (Mail Exchanger) records of the email domain from the Domain Name System (DNS).
This plugin comes with several languages, including French, German, Spanish, Swedish and Finnish, thanks to the free translation tool, Microsoft Translator. See screenshot below.
